About gramstoocup.com

A free, fast grams to cups converter for home bakers, built and checked by a food technologist.

Why this site exists

Most recipes online come in one of two languages: American cups or metric grams. Converting between them sounds simple, but a cup of flour and a cup of sugar don’t weigh the same, and many converters use one rough number for everything. The result is dry cookies, dense cakes and bread dough that won’t come together.

gramstoocup.com does one job well: it converts grams and cups by ingredient, using published weights, and tells you which measuring cups to use so you can get the amount right without a scale.

Who’s behind it

Muhammad Arham is a food technologist with a three-year Diploma in Food Engineering (2020–2023). Food engineering covers how ingredients behave: density, moisture, particle size and why the same volume of two powders can weigh very different amounts. That’s exactly the problem behind grams-to-cups conversion.

Muhammad builds and maintains the converters and charts on this site and reviews every weight-per-cup figure against USDA FoodData Central and King Arthur Baking’s ingredient weight chart before it goes live.

How we keep it accurate

  • One source of truth. Every number on the site comes from a single list of weights per cup, so pages never contradict each other.
  • Published data. Weights come from USDA and King Arthur Baking, and each page says which. The full list is on how we calculate.
  • Honest rounding. When a measurement is rounded by more than a few percent, we say “about”.
  • Corrections. If you spot an error, email us and we’ll fix it and update the page’s review date.

Free to use

The site is free and has no sign-up. In the future it may show ads to cover hosting and development; they’ll never be placed above the converter or the answer.
